Just walking into the woods with Chloe was a sensual experience for Clark, because her hand was tucked into his, and he could feel the heat of her palm burning his. He remembered her palm against his cheek as they kissed, imagined her hand moving over the nape of his neck and his shoulders and his back, and waves of heat ran through him.

The more he thought about being touched by her, the more he wanted to grab her and kiss her, but for some reason he didn't quite have the nerve. He kept walking into the heart of the woods. The forest grew denser and denser, and the path grew darker and darker, and at last she dug in her heels.

"Don't you think this is far enough, Clark?"

"Uh..." The truth was, he hadn't been paying a lot of attention to his surroundings. His mind was firmly focused on her. "Yeah, I guess. I don't suppose anyone else is likely to be out here, this far into the woods."

"You could always use your superhearing and find out," she suggested. He heard a ghost of a smile in her voice and suspected she'd held back the word dumbass out of courtesy.

"Yeah, I guess I could." He tilted his head, focusing his hearing, and heard nothing except for the buzz of insects and the hooting of owls. "We're definitely alone."

"Good." She tilted her head up and looked at him, the pale oval of her face barely visible in the faint silver moonlight that filtered through the branches. He knew she was waiting for him to kiss her, but he hesitated. And hesitated some more.

After a terrible, awkward pause, she sighed. "Never mind, Clark. Let's head back to the car."

"No. Wait." He reached out and caught her by the arms. "I can do this."

"No, you can't." He heard the frustration in her voice, along with very real sorrow. "I'm the one who kissed you at the Daily Planet. You obviously don't really have any real interest in kissing me."

"That is not true," he said fiercely. He hadn't been able to close his eyes all week without replaying their kiss together over and over in his head. He couldn't forget the way she tasted, or the way her body felt against his, or the way his body had reacted. He had a whole lot of interest in kissing her.

It was all he thought about lately.

"Then kiss me, damn it."

He hesitated a second longer. He wasn't sure why he was hesitating, except maybe he was a little afraid of that "scientific analysis." What if Chloe decided Jimmy kissed better than he did?

Besides, he and Chloe had been friends for a long time, and changing the status quo scared him a little. But when he thought about it, he realized not changing it scared him a lot worse. Because for the first time, he had competition, a guy who was clearly very interested in her. What was he going to do, stand back and just let Jimmy Olsen have her?

I don't think so, he thought, bending and brushing his lips over hers.

The kiss started out soft and gentle, but rapidly turned hot and hard. His tongue slid into her mouth and stroked hers, a hesitant exploration that grew more assertive with each passing moment. She sighed into his mouth, digging her hands into his hair and sinking against him more closely than before, and the press of her body and lips against his felt awesomely intimate, impossibly sexual.

Her leg lifted, twining around his calf, and suddenly their bodies were tangling together just like their tongues. His arms went around her waist, and her hands pressed flat against his back. Even through his t-shirt, her palms felt just as hot as he'd imagined. He moved his hips forward just a bit and moaned softly at the pressure of her abdomen against his erection.

The kiss went on and on, their arms tightening around each other, until their bodies were wrapped together like Christmas lights that had been tossed carelessly into a box and left there for a year. He wasn't sure they could ever be untangled again. He didn't want to stop kissing her, ever, but at last he lifted his head, gasping, and stared down at her. Her eyes were heavy-lidded, and he was pretty sure she'd decided he was a better kisser than Jimmy Olsen.

"So if I hadn't dragged you out here, what were you planning on doing?" she asked softly, looking into his eyes. "Were you ever going to kiss me? Or were you just going to stand back and watch while Jimmy and I got serious?"

He thought about it. He wanted to assure her that he had definitely been planning on stepping up, on kissing her again, but he knew it wasn't true. God, he was a wimp sometimes.

"I thought you really liked Jimmy," he said weakly.

She rolled her eyes at that pitiful defense. He could see the flash of white in the darkness. "Oh, you did not. I mean, hello, you're the one I kissed."

"But afterward you said that you weren't expecting us to hook up," he pointed out. "It was just an end of the world thing. That's what you said."

"Yeah, well, you grabbed onto that excuse quickly enough, didn't you?"

Despite the fact that his erection was still throbbing like a bare nerve, and all he really wanted to do was kiss her, he couldn't let that go. "Hold it," he said, glaring at her. "You can't lay this all on me, Chlo. Once I got back from the Phantom Zone, you backed off from that kiss just as fast as I did. You acted like it was no big deal... like it was nothing. You can't blame me for believing you, especially when you went off with Jimmy right after I came back."

"I invited you to eat with us."

"As a frigging afterthought." His cock was still jerking spasmodically, but his heart was beginning to pound more with anger than lust. "You thought I was dead, but you didn't even wait around to talk with me. You walked right off with Jimmy Olsen to have dinner."

The tone of his voice must have conveyed the depths of his annoyance, because she hesitated for a long moment. "I didn't think you'd care," she said at last, softly. "Honestly, I really didn't. You've never really been interested in me that way, Clark."

"Yeah, well..." He sighed as his anger drained away. "You've never laid one on me that way before, either."

"So that's all it takes to get the attention of the elusive Clark Kent?" He could hear the hint of humor in her voice, the gentle, teasing note that she reserved exclusively for him. "A kiss?"

He couldn't prevent his own smile. "I guess I'm easy that way."

Her body stirred against his, and suddenly he remembered their bodies were still twined together, and his arousal was still pulsing against her. She touched her lips to his neck, and he felt a shock of pleasure at the light brush of her mouth.

"Let's see if you're easy any other way," she whispered against his throat.

Yeah, that's what I want to see! I'd pay all the spare money I have AND start to watch the show again to see the SV writing staff generate that kind of blatantly honest dialogue between Chlark. Well, that and actually MAKING Clark become Superman. Anyway, that was a great little argument there, I enjoyed that. Also funny? This: "...still throbbing like a bare nerve". I laughed out loud at that one. Thanks for sharing Elly!
