-Snow Patrol, "Open Your Eyes"
When she opened her eyes, everything was normal.
Nothing had seemed quite right recently. Maybe for as long as the past six or seven months. She'd had a strange feeling of not being quite in control of herself. She'd found herself standing in strange places, staring blankly around her, bewildered as to how she got there. She'd heard herself agreeing to things she didn't really want to do.
But now, that strange feeling was gone. She didn't know how she'd gotten here, but everything felt right.
Because Clark Kent was kneeling next to her, smiling at her.
She remembered calling for him. Maybe not out loud, but somewhere in her mind, she'd called out to him, begging him to help her, while something dark and terrible overwhelmed her, smothering Chloe Sullivan beneath a cold, suffocating blanket of Otherness.
And then, through the darkness, she'd heard his deep, reassuring voice: Chloe. Chloe, I'm here. We're trying to get rid of Brainiac, okay? Just hang on.
She'd hung on, desperately, because she'd known he was there.
Hang in there, his voice had whispered, a soft litany of comfort. Hang in there...
"Chloe," he whispered now, his smile joyful but tentative, as if he were afraid she might fade away again. "Are you okay?"
"Fine." She felt her own lips curve in a smile. "I definitely feel a whole lot dumber."
He smiled back at her, but beneath the smile she saw clearly how terrified he'd been. Terrified of losing her. She could understand that. The two of them had been friends for a long, long time, and losing Clark would be unbearably painful. She knew he couldn't bear losing her, either.
He looked into her eyes for a long moment, and his smile grew brighter.
And then he bent forward and kissed her.

I like how this is starting. There should have been a chaste kiss on the forehead, at the very least in that scene.
I guess they need to contain the Chlark heat by restricting their physical contact.
That's the way it should have been :)
Yay, an MHE for Legion! :)
I agree with shopgal - there should have been a Chlark kiss or at least a hug at the end of that scene. But I'll settle for the eyesex they were having after the exorcism. It was was so steamy, the Legionnaires had to back off!!!
Great start, Elly!

Dee.
