Screencap from Dynamic Duo.

He wasn't turned on.

Seriously, he wasn't. The feel of Chloe Sullivan's butt up against his, well, front wasn't having the slightest effect on him.

Not that it wasn't a very nice butt, because it was. She had a beautiful, curvaceous ass, and he wasn't so blind that he'd never noticed it. He might even have indulged in a stray fantasy or two about pressing up against it.

But now that he was pressed up against it... he was perfectly in control of himself.

Really. He was. They were friends, and this was just one of those weird situations. They were in his dark, cold truck, on a stakeout for an article she was working on for the Torch, their high school newspaper, and he was trying to keep her warm, so he'd pulled her into his lap. Just a body warmth thing. It had absolutely nothing to do with any sort of physical attraction.

It did occur to him, very very vaguely, that if he moved a little bit, it would probably feel really good. But he wasn't going to do that.

"Oh, look," she whispered, wiggling.... and it did feel really good. Really, really good. Really, really, really good. Not that he noticed. "He's coming out, Clark. Get ready to go."

He was ready to go. Or maybe ready to come. Either way, he was ready.

With a violent effort, he pushed her gently off his lap and back into the passenger seat, where she belonged. The guy they were keeping an eye on got into his car, turned it on, and headed up the road, and Clark turned the key in the ignition. The engine started up with a muted roar.

His own engine was still revving, too.

No, he thought firmly, his hands gripping the wheel as he pulled out into the dark, quiet stretch of Main Street. This was just a stakeout, the same kind of thing they'd done dozens of times before. And the two of them were friends and colleagues. That was all.

He hadn't even noticed Chloe in his lap, and he sure as hell wasn't turned on.

Really, he wasn't.

Oh Clark, you are SUCH a liar.

Just grab the girl already!

This is brilliant, Elly! I just want to whack Clark with a Kryptonite bat and say, 'Kiss yer, you fool!'

Excellent. Can't wait for the rest of it!

Regards,
DeeDee.

I don't know why, but it is funnier when you get to the bottom and it says...

"more to come."

I just want to add to the many crying for an update. Though I am loving the other fics you're working on, this one keeps sticking in the back of my mind and I find myself checking and checking and checking...

But no pressure.
